Prof. Pratyoosh Shukla is currently working as Professor & Coordinator, School of Biotechnology, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. Formerly, he served as Head, Department of Microbiology from 2011 to 2020 at the Department of Microbiology, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. He has worked as Indo-USA Research Professor at the University of Cincinnati, USA. He was appointed Visiting Guest Professor at the South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. He has 21 years of research and 23 years of teaching experience in reputed universities in India and abroad. He has written more than 36 book chapters. One patent, published more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in reputed SCI journals like Trends in Biotechnology, Trends in Genetics, Trends in Microbiology, Current Opinion in Environmental Science & Health, Biotechnology Advances, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Frontiers in Microbiology, Biotechnology for Biofuels, Critical Reviews in Biotechnology, Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Critical Reviews in Microbiology, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, etc. He has written 9 books published by Springer, CRC Press, and Elsevier, including the Editor of Springer Briefs in systems biology series. He has carried out over 13 R&D projects funded by national and international agencies as PI/Co-PI.Prof. Shukla has guided 19 Ph.D. students, and 6 Ph.D. scholars are currently registered under his supervision. In adition, he is also mentoring two National Post Doctoral Fellows (NPDF) funded by SERB, Govt. of India. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FNAAS), a Fellow of the Academy of Microbiological Sciences (FAMSc), and a Fellow of the Biotech Research Society of India (FBRS). He has received several awards, including ‘Prof. S.B. Saksena, Award, Top 10 Best Researcher of India, NRF-DUT Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award, Danisco India Award in Probiotics & Enzyme Technology, Selected as a scientist in Southern Ocean Antarctica Expedition, AMI Platinum Jubilee Award, Alembic Award, BHU- Most Productive Researcher Award etc. He is also serving as Editor of the Indian Journal of Microbiology (Springer), Scientific Reports, Academic Editor (PLOS One), Editor (BMC Microbiology), Editor (Protein and Peptide Letters) and Editorial Board Member & Reviewer in many journals. He also served as General Secretary of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) from 2014-2020.
